Which Comb Should You Use on a Synthetic Wig?
Use the tool specified for your wig’s fiber and style. A wide-tooth comb is a useful starting point to ask about, but “synthetic” does not make every brush suitable. Before buying, check whether the directions permit a brush, specify only a comb, or give a separate method for curls. The right question is about the exact wig—not which tool you happen to have in the bathroom.

1. Check whether the instructions distinguish combs from brushes
Jon Renau’s care card gives a clear manufacturer example: its traditional synthetic routine allows a paddle brush or wide-tooth comb before washing, while its Heat Defiant routine specifies a wide-tooth comb only. These are directions for the covered Jon Renau fibers. They show why a tool suitable for one synthetic product is not automatically suitable for another.
The current Aurora listing says to detangle gently from the ends upward and use care products suitable for synthetic fiber. Ask which comb or brush is appropriate for your selected option; don’t transfer another brand’s tool restrictions or product amounts to it. Check included accessories separately—a comb in an illustration is not evidence that one comes in the box.

2. Plan a gentle pass, not one long pull
Once the tool and method are confirmed, begin with a manageable section and short passes at the ends. Hold the section gently above the area being worked on so a snag does not become a tug at the cap. Move upward only after the lower section releases. Don’t comb through the lace itself or stretch the cap to make a knot give way.
Curly styles deserve their own directions. Jon Renau’s curly synthetic guide describes gentle, ends-first work with a wide-tooth comb for its curls. That is not a reason to brush out an EVUNIA curl pattern or add an arbitrary spray. Ask about preserving the selected texture and whether the approved method is used on dry or damp hair.

3. Know when to put the comb down
If a knot does not release with the permitted gentle method, stop. More force, scissors or a hot tool are different interventions—not the next automatic step. Send a clear photo of the affected area and the exact style and color when asking for help. A change in tool cannot promise to repair damaged fiber or restore a previous texture.
For a newly delivered wig with an apparent problem, ask before washing, cutting or altering it. EVUNIA’s policy gives separate instructions for confirmed defects or shipping errors and for voluntary returns. Before ordering, your useful care checklist is short: approved tool, dry-or-damp method, compatible products and a clear way to ask for help.
