Wig Too Thick at the Back? What to Check Before Thinning
If a wig looks too thick at the back, pause before thinning it. First work out what you want to change: the amount of hair, the length of the ends, or the way the cut sits around your head. Those are different requests. If you have not bought the wig yet, ask for the selected style’s side and back views; if it has arrived, keep it unaltered while you check your options. A photograph alone cannot tell you exactly how much hair should be removed.

1. Ask where the fullness is—not just whether the wig is long
Be specific about the part that bothers you: a rounded shape behind the crown, a wide outline at the sides, or a heavy-looking line of ends at the nape. Describe what you see without immediately diagnosing the cap or fiber. A shorter longest length does not, by itself, promise a flatter back; different layers and cuts can make two wigs with similar listed lengths look different.
Compare front, side and back images of the same selected option. For Aurora · Golden Mixed Layers · CF030-01, the page checked on October 8, 2026 lists 16 inches, Japanese-style synthetic fiber and a handworked 13 × 6-inch lace area. Aurora also has other cuts and colors. Those details identify the option; they do not establish a measured hair-density percentage or guarantee a particular amount of volume. The lace area is not a density rating.

2. Separate a cutting request from a fit question
“I want the ends shorter” is a trimming request. “I want less hair through this area” is a thinning request. “The cap does not sit where it should” is a fit question. Removing hair should not be your first response to an unresolved cap-fit problem. Prepare your head measurements and ask about the exact cap rather than assuming that thinning will make it fit. Our head-measurement guide helps you organize that enquiry.
If you decide to keep the wig and want it customized, speak to a stylist who works with the specific fiber and construction. Wigs by Dana’s synthetic-wig thinning guide distinguishes home thinning from professional help and recommends a professional when you are not comfortable doing it yourself. We are not turning its cutting instructions into a tutorial for Aurora: no product-specific thinning method has been verified here. Ask the stylist what can be changed, what must be protected, and whether the shape you want is achievable before any cutting starts.

3. Decide about keeping it before making a permanent change
Do not cut, thin, pluck or apply heat just to test whether you might like the result. These are alterations, not a neutral comparison. EVUNIA’s published return policy, checked on October 8, 2026, allows change-of-mind requests within 14 calendar days after delivery. For voluntary returns outside statutory cancellation rights, the wig must be unused, unwashed and unaltered, with lace uncut and original packaging retained. There is no restocking fee; the buyer pays direct return postage. The policy separately addresses incorrect or defective items and preserves statutory rights.
Before ordering, a useful message is: “I am considering CF030-01 and prefer a flatter back with face-framing layers. Can you show the side and back of this exact option and confirm any measured density information or customization available?” If the style has already arrived, explain the same concern and ask how to inspect it without affecting your return options. Do not assume a special cut is included or that any stylist’s alteration will be reversible. If a different ready-made cut already matches your preference, compare that option before paying for customization.
